Asthma and Educators
Asthma Educator Institute is designed for respiratory therapists, nurses and pharmacists with some background in asthma. The course has been revised in accordance with the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program Expert Panel Report: Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma, EPR 3 updated in August 2007.
The workshop provides participants with the knowledge and tools necessary for the successful assessment and management of patient asthma. It also provides them with the tools and resources to help prepare for the national asthma educator certification exam. Scholarship Award Program
Asthma Educator Institute and National Asthma Educator Certification
Exam
Awarding 8 individual scholarships (2 in Wisconsin) - $495 each
Scholarships are awarded to individuals who have experience working with
individuals with asthma, work in underserved areas or populations, meet
all examination eligibility requirements and live within Illinois,
Indiana, Wisconsin or Minnesota. Within each of these states, two (2)
professionals will be awarded scholarships to cover the cost of the
tuition fee for attending the American Lung Association Asthma Educator
Institute prep course ($200 each) and testing fees for the certification
exam ($295 each). These scholarships were created to provide assistance
for individuals pursuing their national asthma educator certification.
The funding for these scholarships is made possible through an
educational grant from the US Environmental Protection Agency, Region 5.
